Hi everyone.

My fiance and I are really struggling to find a way to be able to live together, but unfortunately it seems every door is shut against us.

to explain: he visited a page on 4chan (back when certain images were allowed), realized what was on there, and quickly backed out. But he didn't report to the police that he had accidentally visited the page, nor cleared his history. in short, he has 6 years left of probation along with being on the registered sex offenders list.

I had thought maybe he could move to the US with me, since sponsoring with a sexual offense isn't allowed, but even for applying for a green card, his offense basically keeps him from doing so.

any suggestions on actions he and I could take, for at least one to migrate to the other?

Blessings.

You need to speak with a lawyer. Because his offense is sexual in nature I don't see that sponsoring you to Canada is an option. But best to confirm with an immigration lawyer.

If he cannot sponsor you, then you will need to qualify to immigrate to Canada on your own through an economic immigration stream like Express Entry. Might want to start researching what that takes now.

I can't imagine there's any way he would qualify for a green card. You moving here is the only option I see.

Not immigration advice, but I'd say run. Run fast and run far. One does not get put on the sex offender's register and receive 6+ years probation for accidentally visiting a page once, quickly backing out and not reporting to police what they clicked on. Why were the police looking at his hard drive in the first place? They don't tend to do that when they don't have a reason to look.

100% agree. There's WAY more to this story and way more to the charges. So on top of whatever it was he did, he's now lying to his future partner about it. Or maybe she doesn't want to admit the severity of what he did on a public forum - hopefully that's it and she knows the truth. If he hasn't told her the truth - yep, run.

I can't believe you actually believe his story, it's almost too crazy to be true. You can't just accidentally stumble onto child porn, that kind of stuff is easily traceable on a forum, you'd have to be really searching hard for it. Even if he really did accidentally stumble onto it, there's no reason he would've got that long of a sentence. They'd have to be searching his hard drive and found he made repeated searches for specific child porn images. No one gets sentenced that long just by stumbling onto a page, they'd have to either download some images, or made repeated search attempts for those images.
