Hi everyone, this forum has been really helpful with the process of my spouse sponsorship application and I'm almost done with the paper works. I would just like to double check with you guys coz Im not sure if I'm missing anything or something. Just to give you guys a background, I am a permanent resident and just arrived here in Canada last March, no kids, sponsoring my spouse who is in Abu Dhabi.

Here's the content of my first folder (Sponsor)
1. Application to Sponsor form (IMM 1344)
2. Sponsorship Evaluation (IMM 5481)
3. Copy of receipt
4. Sponsor Questionnaire (IMM 5540)
5. Evidence of genuine and continuing relationship
- Photos when we wr still dating (loose photos)
-Wedding and honeymoon photos (loose)
-Print screen of imessage conversation (from March to present)
-Copy of the letters I received from mys husband
-letters from our family members

Folder 2 (Applicant)
1. Generic Application form (IMM 0008)
2. Schedule A (IMM 5669)
3. Spouse Partner questionnaire (IMM 5490)
4. Additional family information (IMM 5406)
5. Evidence of genuine and continuing relationship
-letters from me (sponsor) when we wr still dating
6. Supporting documents
- identity and civil status documents like birth cert, college diploma, national ID, baptismal cert
-travel document like passport and UAE Visa stamp
-proof of relationship to sponsor - marriage cert
-police cert
-medical examination

I have a few questions too:
1. We started filling out the forms last June, is it still okay to submit it even if its already August?
2. How much is the total fee to pay for the sponsorship? is it 1040 dollars?
3. Do I have to send my husbands (principal applicant) ID photos?

Hoping to hear a feedback from you guys. Thank you!

1. Make sure the forms are up to date and there hasn't been an update in the past couple months. If it is the most up to date form then it doesn't matter if you filled it out in June.

2. Yes, $1040 in application fees.

3. What I'd photos are you talking about? The visa sized photos? If so, then yes, he has to send the visa sized photos.

there are definitely forms that have been updated since june, so as tink suggested, you will need to make sure the most updated version of the form is in your packet. if not, you run the risk of delaying your application and having it sent back because you used outdated forms.

Thank you for your feedback. I just checked the CIC website and it turns out that some of the forms are updated so I need to change some of it. Anyway, I have another question. My husband (principal applicant) filled out the additional family information, it says there that the family member including the spouse needs to fill out their own form. Do I have to fill it out? Thanks again

No, you don't have to fill this out because you are the sponsor. He will include you on the form as his spouse, but you do not fill it out.

Also, make sure he pays close attention to this form. There are 3 spots for signatures and you don't want him to miss it (unless this form has changed since my husband applied for pr in 2012).

Do you have to include the following in the Sponsor's sextion:

Evidence of genuine and continuing relationship
- Photos when we wr still dating (loose photos)
-Wedding and honeymoon photos (loose)
-Print screen of imessage conversation (from March to present)
-Copy of the letters I received from mys husband
-letters from our family members

I included all of this in my (the applicant) section.

It is one application, so it only needs to be included once. It doesn't matter who out the proof in as long as it is there.

Thanks again guys. I'm just wondering, most of our conversation in our imessage text msgs are in our Native language and 40% are in English. Do I have to translate it?

yes, if you want to submit non-english or french communication, they must be translated. i don't believe text messages need to be certified, you may be able to just translate them yourself. if what you have in english spans the length of your relationship, then just send that portion.

Does it mention in the guide?

I am always under the impression that translation is not required on supporting evidence of proof of relationship. I thought translation is only required on legal documents, such as birth certificate if there is no English or French.

Can someone please confirm?

It specifies somewhere in the guide that anything not in French or English needs to be translated. That being said, many people don't translate things like chats and don't have a problem with it. If the vo wanted to though, they could be a stickler for this, but usually most are not. I guess you never know.

It looks like the guide mentioned translation is needed for "documents". I think letters, chat messages is not considered documents, that's just my opinion.

you can sponsor the child as a "non accompanying dependant". i believe the child MUST be listed as a dependant on the application, no matter if they are accompanying him or not. i'm pretty sure for him to claim he has no dependants when he does can be seen as misrepresentation.
