Hello everyone,

I am married for little over a month now, I would like to submit my application but I have not received the certificate as yet can I just submit the copy given to me by the priest or do I have to wait for the marriage certificate that is issued by government. Thank you!

regards

Where did you get married?

In that case it's pretty common to just submit what you have at the time of marriage and then include a note saying that you will forward the official marriage receipt once you receive it. This has been done plenty of times in the past.

However, if you are able to wait a few more weeks and submit a complete application package, that would be better. (And I only mean better in terms of it leaving less room for error - if you send it later it's the standard risk of it not being matched up with your original package, etc.)

So up to you!

The reason I am rushing my application is because my legal status is expiring soon.

What is your current status, when does it expire?

at the moment I am on temporary resident permit which is expiring end of this month.

I assume you are applying inland and including an OWP in your app?

(Seriously, this is like playing 20 questions.)

I am going to apply inland and an OWP as well I don't know what else should I mention

THANK YOU!

(Sorry man I now its irritating)

So if I have this correct then, you should be able to just send the application and that puts you on implied status as a visitor after your TRP runs out. (Someone will correct me on this if I am wrong!)

Going back to your original question, as I said before, you can send the app without the marriage certificate, it's common with Ontario weddings.

Wish I had just done that and not waited for the marriage certificate. They still lost it twice even though it was in the original application package . When you send off for the certificate make sure you get both. Long form and short form. For some reason they don't seem to know which Ontario marriage certificate CIC likes . Many has been asked for the long form when sending the short, then some has been asked for the short when sending the long, mine they just seems to keep misplacing.
