Hi, my wife is sponsoring me for permanent residency but I have two questions on how to fill in the application.

I have spent some time workIng on ships and I’m not sure about the best way to fill the section regarding past addresses.
Should I write “ on board vessel ‘x’ “ on the street name part and give the city and country of the home port? Is it possible to put n/a on the street number part?

There is a question regarding the current country of residence. Since I’m already in Canada I gave my address here but they ask for two dates, “from” and “to”. What date should I fill in for “to”, the day I submit the application? The format does allow to write “present“ and in all honesty, since they are asking the current country you are residing, I cannot understand how they can be asking for a completion date.

I hope my questions make sense. Thank you.

1) Fill in whatever information you can on the address (e.g. home port) and attach a letter of explanation that you were ship crew throughout this period. (Note if you have to provide travel history, this will require more detailed information as to places you visited).

Edit/add; note, I'm assuming here you didn't have an apartment or residence that was your usual place of residence while at sea. If so, you'll have to decide which approach to take (but I would say apartment or residence separate from the ship). Either way, it will not hurt to include a short letter of explanation noting that you were at sea, ship such-and-such, home port during the relevant period.

2) Yes, just put to the date you send the application.
