Hi,

I'm the principle applicant and we're having some trouble getting employment letters from some of my wife's past employers (in Egypt).

My understanding is that the work experience of the principle applicant is all that matters. The spouse can have zero work experience and it would still NOT impact the overall application.. am I correct?

I'm just worried that if I don't submit an employment letter for all my wife's past experiences, a disgruntled CIC employee might just reject my application. I'm kind of considering deleting any employment record for which she can't get a letter, as this will be an easier route (as far as paperwork goes). Would appreciate you advice/opinions.

Thanks,

Hello...when you create the profile, you must declare the work experience that is relevant for the application and will give you points ONLy, for this work experience you must provide a lettter. The non-relevant work experience must be declared in the personal history ( periods of study, employment, unemployment , etc) . No need for letter if is only declared here.

Thanks Susana. My wife doesn't have Canadian experience. So I only got points from her through her high IELTS score and Bachelor degree. Her non-Canadian work experience didn't add any points to my profile, I believe. It's only adding a paper-work headache to me now :)...

That's why i'm debating whether I should remove some of her experiences for which I won't be able to get an employment letter... Thoughts?

Did you include those work experiences of your wife in the profile with which you were invited? If yes, I think you have to provide documents to support everything in your pre-ITA profile whether you got points for them or not. I stand to be corrected.

I am very interested in the answers to this question. @Asivad, other seniors, pls help.

By the personal history you mean Schedule A? I did too remove all my spouse's eduction and work experience plus my education from outside and left only Canadian diploma & Canadian experience cause we don't need those extra points as we received PNP.
Do you guys know if you have to submit Schedule A with all your personal history like education and stuff after you receive ITA?

When creating the EE profile, you wouldn't know about the personal history section as it comes up only after ITA. As a result, most people seem to already declare all their work history (including the non-point fetching ones) in the work history section.

Now, is it okay to move an item that fetches no point from work history section to personal history section post ITA?

As I understand you declare only the information that gives you points. You don't have to declare work history or education that is not relevant or useless to your EE profile. After you receive ITA, thats when you give them a full disclosure of your personal history.

You can safely remove your wife's job details from work history and retain in the personal history and that should be ok. It will also remove the fields for you to upload her docs given that they don't add any points so they are not mandatory
