Hello!

I've been looking through these forums trying to figure out what I should do .
Everything I have found isn't helping me very much.. but I could be missing all the good information.
specially since i am still VERY new to this.

I am Canadian trying to sponsor my American husband. We are starting to fill out our application and hopefully get to send it out by the end of he month.
I want to start moving him to Canada ASAP....
I'm just not sure what the best thing to do ....

I also want to go to Japan in June/July..
Leaving from Toronto to Japan for both of us??

Can he come and stay in Canada while his application is being processed?
What if we leave to Japan , will entering Canada be a problem?

Thank you for all your help!!!

He can not "move" to Canada with you until he has completed the application and been issued a PR visa, however he can come and 'visit' with you during this application process. It shouldn't be an issue for him to remain with you for the entirety of the application process, however he can not work or study or anything like that without the proper permits.

It should not be a problem for both of you to leave to go to Japan and return, however knowing you will do this, you should probably make sure you file an outland application form rather than Inland, so there is not risk in case they give him a hard time upon return. Most times it is not an issue, but you can never know for sure what CBSA is going to do at any moment in time.

It doesn't sound like you have done a whole lot of reading so I suggest you start here http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/spousal-sponsorship-t46995.0.html and read the very first post of the very first page. Leon gives a pretty good rundown on the ins and outs. If you haven't already gotten a medical done and sent for you husbands FBI certificate, I think you will find you are longer than a month before you can actually file the application. Most folks it takes about 3-4 months to ensure all the paperwork is properly filled out and all the necessary documents are enclosed. It is a long an arduous process, but it is so very worth all the effort and time to be with those we love.

Good luck!
