Spouse in Fiji. Visa office in Australia

Hello everyone,

So my husband and I got married last year in July. When I came back to Canada in August, I submitted his application under the Family Class. We have received notification that our file is now in Australia (that is the visa office for Fiji) and my husband had his medical request and police request done as well. We have now been waiting 8 weeks since the last submission of documents, I'm wondering if anyone has any idea, how long the process is after these steps. Any information would be very helpful. Thank you.

Do you know what the steps are once they ask for his passport ? Like he sends it, then approximately how long till he gets it back? Is it a faster process once we get to this step?

The background checks are usually the longest periods where you don’t hear anything for months.
