Spouse immigration

Hi everyone,

I have sponsored my wife for canadian immigration and CIC received the file on Dec 5th 2011. The status on the file now shows medical received. I have applied the immigration case from Buffalo i.e. outside canada and after the closure of Buffalo CIC , the file is transferred to Ottawa CIC.

My wife is with me in Canada on work permit. My status in Canada is of Permanent Resident.

Can someone please suggest/ guide as to how much time it would further take to get the immigration?

it's always difficult to say - because it's up to CIC and it also depends on how complicated your file is - previous marriage etc.
Buffalo was 12 months but quite a few people get done before that, and there is no information on Ottawa yet ( as it's based on previous year statistics and Ottawa is a new office), but you can probably expect more or less the same.

So - you are 8 months into the process, it could be another 4 months, but it could be quicker - only CIC knows. You can have a look at the US thread and spreadsheet to see how fast it has been going for applicants in similar cases, but at the end - it really depends on how complicated your file is.

But it seems like you have done most of it already, so you're on the right track!
