Hi,

We got the letter from the consulate to submit our passports for visa stamping. Our medical results expire on May 28, 2010. I am assuming the VISA STAMP will have an expiry date of May 28, 2010. We are expecting our child (due on may 1st week) and hence my wife cannot accompany me. Is there any way we can request and extension for landing in Canada? I don't mind us going thru another medical checkup.

Please advise.

Assuming (from what you said) that you are both immigrating, and neither of you is a PR or Canadian citizen, you might be better off landing before the baby is born. That way the baby will be born in Canada, and be a citizen by birth. If the baby is born outside Canada, you'll have to have it added as a dependent to the application, which will delay things.

At CIC's discression, it is possible for them to extend validity of the medical results, but you would still have to add the child as a dependent if it's born outside Canada before you land.

I don't know from which country Anto is. However to reach Canada a minimum travel time of 7-8 hours requred even from European sector.Long travel with a 8+ months pregnant wife is too risky and not comfortable for her. Consider the possible difficulties and take decision. More over some Airlines may ask (not necessary always) a medical certificate showing she is able to travel during the late pregnancy stage. I recommend, applying for an extension of the visa will be more appropriate. The decision is yours. Wish you good luck !!!.
