Hi Experts,

My wife is visiting me here in Canada, and our son is born here 2 months ago, i have not applied for her PR yet. I have following questions;
1- What is the best option to apply for her PR, inland or outland?

2- Is it possible to apply at canadian embassy in USA or UK for fast processing, because from home country it takes 21 months?

3-Because our son born here and he is canadian by birth, would this help to expedite her PR application if applied from home country, where it takes 21 months to process spouse PR.?

Regards

Since it takes so long in her case to apply from her country, then I suggest applying inland is better for you. She can stay in Canada while it is being processed, though the problem is she cannot leave Canada while it is being processed.
She could apply outland and just extend her stay in Canada while waiting, but with such a long processing time I think doing inland, where you can get permission to work and health coverage, is better.

She can only apply outland through the USA if she has been admitted to either the USA or Canada for a year. For the UK she would need to have been admitted to the UK for a year.

Having a child does not officially expedite the process, but since having a child together is good proof your relationship is genuine, it often does mean that the application will be done more quickly - if it is decided that no interview is needed, for example.

Canadianwoman:

Thank you for reply, much appreciated.
Initially she had 6 months visa, and am planning for another 6 months extension, if she ges that, then it will make one year in total.

In that case will she be able to apply in USA?

Thank you

No, it has to be a one-year visa from the beginning. She does not have to have stayed for a year; as soon as she gets a one-year visa she is eligible.

canadianwoman,
