Hi Harrybob,

Generally they don't want to interview the sponsor. I have heard instances where they let the sponsor in to say "hi" and then continue the interview with the applicant. So from that point of view it is not necessary to go. However, my partner is in the interview as we type and I would have loved to be there with him for support and to share the stress load as well as see him of course. It has been a hellish month leading up to this and a huge burden for one person to bear, no matter how well you know each other.

If you are able to be there for support, I'm sure it would be wonderful, but not a requirement for the interview.

I do not pretend to be an expert, especially since I didn't have to actually go through the interview. Just passing on our experience.

We had looked at every list of questions available and pulled oodles of information to take to the interview as we had heard some instances of pretty intense interviews. My hubby has his today and basically none of the questions were asked and we have been confirmed that the visa is being put through immediately. :D

We had pulled our CAIPS file and stressed over the issues they raised and these things were also not discussed in any great details. However, I would recommend getting this information if you have time for peace of mind and for giving you a starting point for the preparation! As other people have said it depends on the VO and the discretion they are prepared to take. We had our Visa approved under the Conjugal Partner category. Although the last month has been completely hellish waiting and preparing and learning about every evil VO question that could be asked, I think it served us well as nothing they could say could shock him or throw him for a loop. So as with everything expect the worst and hope for the best.
