I live and work in Windsor, Ontario, and my fiance lives and works in Detroit, Michigan. If we were to get married and then apply for a spousal visa for him to live here, would he be able to stay here on a multiple entry visitors visa while we waited for his visa to get approved? He would have to cross at least 4-5 times a week for work. He would be able to maintain an American address. Initally we thought I'd be going to stay over there....but that process seems like it would be even more lengthy. Any info/advice would be greatly appreciated!

If your husband is American, he doesn't require any visitor visa to enter Canada. When he goes to cross the border he will need to show the customs officer that he has ties to the US, however, no visa is needed.

Even if he is crossing back and forth regularly, and staying here in Canada with me?

There is no visitor visa for Americans. There is a visitor record he can get, but I'm pretty sure that just tells him a date he must leave by. He has to show ties to the US. If he's crossing everyday he may be flagged and so should have proof of ties to the US and also it will help for him to show that the PR sponsorship has been started. You should post this question in the Ottawa office thread as I'm sure there are numerous Americans in there who do this and can probably give some pointers for what will make his crossing each day smoother. But no, there isn't a visitor visa for him.

He should get a nexus card if he doesn't already have one - it will make it much easier. and he should carry "proofs" that he has applied for PR, and working in the US etc, so that if he is stopped at the border he can explain and have proofs, and he should be fine.
There are quite a few people doing that on this forum, wait a little and they'll give you more information! :-)
