I am looking for some help with writing an explanation letter to accompany my husband’s application. My husband lost his mom at a tender age and doesn’t know the date of death, I was wondering if someone with a sample explanation letter in that regard could share one with me kindly explaining why he wouldn’t have the date. Or anything similar to that.

You are way overthinking this. Simply say: Applicant's mother passed away when he was very young. Date of death unknown.

No longer explanation is needed.
