Hello,

I am applying for a spousal sponsorship application. Please review my profile and give me advice based on your experience.

Applicant:
Male – 22 Years
Status in Canada – Study permit (Currently going to school remote learning)
Previous relationship - Never married.

Sponsor:
Female – 27 Years
Status in Canada – Citizen by birth
Previous relationship - Never married.

We are married for a year and living together ever since. We used to live at her parent’s place but now we are living together in the apartment which is a joint lease for the last 6 months. For supporting documents, we are putting marriage photographs and other photos and a story explaining why we got married and what is our future plan. She had one son before me. (She is never married though). I would like to know my chances to get PR and what will be hurdles if any. And I am applying for an open work permit so what is the success ratio for an open work permit (Applying along with my pr file). Thanks in advance. Please reply based on your experience.

Well, it sounds like a normal spousal sponsorship.

Are you out of state?

I think previous reply suggested you wait some time before you apply because you got married very soon after you met your wife.

If you are out of state, you will not get OWP until AIP but if you still have valid status (i.e. student still studying full time with study permit, or visitor with valid visitor status) then you may get it in about 6 months (COVID delays).

Just saw this....

My experience is very different from yours. Back then OWP is only allowed after AIP. So yes, we did get the work permit but then hubby got the COPR within a month or so.
We had a big age gap but we dated for a few years before we got married. So it's very different.

Honestly, our marriage is genuine and me and my wife are really close ever since. We tried to portray that in our application. Since our marriage, we are at arm's length and did everything together. Currently, I am on a study permit and studying online (Due to covid). I will graduate in August and my study permit expires in December 2021. I am just nervous.
