Good evening everyone,

I am a bit confused when it comes to the transitional provision fee along with all of the other fees.

I am sponsoring my spouse, inland, and applying for the open work permit and the visitors visa extension.

I have been told I should pay a total of 1040$ but that is less than what I had calculated.

I called CIC the other day and the rep told me not to apply for the visitor status extension and that I didn't need to pay for the Transitional Provision fee of 550$.

I am confused right now, and plan to pay the remainder of our fees soon and we cannot afford to pay more then we are required to and then have to wait months for a refund if we mess up.

Can someone please break down for me what the Transition Provision Fee is for exactly?

How do we know if it applies to our application?

Here's the fees we currently panning on paying (or thought we had to pay):

Visitor Extension - 100$
Open Work Permit - 255$
Sponsor Evaluation - 75$
Principal Applicant - 475$
Transitional Provision - 550$

Help! Please!

Thank you all,

You don't have to pay the visitor extension fee.

It's $1040 for the spousal sponsorship fees + plus $255 for the open work permit.

PR fees:

Sponsorship application $75
Principal applicant fee $475
Right of Permanent Residence Fee $490

Total $1040

You can choose to pay only the first 2 upfront and wait for CIC to request the RPRF. However, not paying the RPRF upfront will delay your app when CIC needs to request it and wait for the payment, so it's advised to pay the full amount upfront.

OWP fees:

Work Permit $155
Open work permit holder $100

Total $255
