Hello,

My partner and I were planning on submitting rental agreements to prove we have been living together (genuine relationship) for the past 5 years. However, it turns out they are all improper in sorts of ways. One of them has the wrong initials (partner got careless that day?), another doesn't have my name on it since he met with the landlord to check out the room and sign the lease while I was at work, and we don't even have a signed document for our current place because we've been renting from the same landlord for these 5 years.

I'm unsure if it would be legal to "fix" them and sign new ones, or submit the improper ones anyway. Do I include a letter of explanation then? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Get an affidavit from your current landlord stating that you've been living together and renting from him/her for the last five years.

Assuming this isn't your only piece of evidence of cohabitation and you have other evidence that dates back at least one year such as joint utilities, joint bank accounts, joint credit cards, etc.
