Hi

I wanted to ask how important is an C Option printout for an application. I've never filed taxes before so I'll be filing them now but I'm wondering it'll be worth the wait or should just submit the app with an explanation? And send in the C Option Print later during the process.

I am a full time student, never worked in Canada. Not on welfare either. I just have savings to prove I can support myself and my spouse.

Thanks in advance!

Anybody? Please help :(

Write an explanation in a letter and supply evidence that you will not need any welfare support for the foreseeable future. Option C is not available if you have no tax history as far as I am aware.

What kind of evidence? If I don't have enough then I guess it's just better to wait for tax refunds and get the C Option right? The only evidence I might have is my bank statement, has about 10000$ and shows frequent wire transfers from my parents that support me. Do you think that would suffice?

Strictly speaking, there is no minimum income for spousal sponsorship. However, you may be asked how you are going to manage. I suggest that you try and find a job offer or something to help convince the CIC agent. You'll probably be OK however as you are if you have no negative financial history

Right okay.. I just got off the phone with CRA. The processing time for tax returns for new residents is 16 weeks. That's like 4 months.. I guess I'll have to submit my app without the C Option and provide explanation and evidences.

Also what If I get my C Option after I submit my application. Do you think I can send it in after I get a file number/AOR?

No harm in sending it I suppose, but I don't think that they will ask for it as you should have sponsor approval before it arrives.

I'm actually applying in land. So it'll take 6-8 months before I get a sponsor approval. I hope I can send it in, in the mean time.

Thank you for your help! :)

I'm sponsoring my husband and did not have an Option C printout. Instead, I gave copies of my T4 slips and pay stubs and an explanation of how I was not able to retrieve my Option C printout. I got a phonecall from CIC confirming my income and that's pretty much it (I was approved). I do have tax history though, just was not able to get the Option C on time when I wanted to apply.
