Hello, I was hoping if you could help us understand what our application status might, be given the following timeline and information.
  • Application received: Apr 2019
  • Medical instructions received: June 2019
  • Biometrics required: June 2019
  • Additional documents required: Dec 2019
After an year passed from the day the application was received, this year in May, we submitted an enquiry to the London office (that's our VO), and they responded "Background and criminality assessments have completed. The application is pending final review from an assessing officer"

After this, last week on Monday we got a "Decision Made" on our permanent residence application status, but no further information.

Now, we haven't received any pre-arrival letter, neither a procedural fairness letter (PFL).
Could anyone have any idea on what we might expect in terms of decision being positive or not, and timelines?

Thanks

We received a pre-arrival letter on Jan 7/20, then they asked more questions and wanted more forms completed. We complied and finally in early August we received DM on the ECAS system.

Just like you, I wanted to know whether it was a positive or negative DM, so I sent a message thru the webform asking exactly that and also asking what was next in the process. They replied confirming our application had been approved, that our medical expiry date had been extended to Dec. 31/20, and that we had to wait for the VOs to open in order to get PPR, etc.

I think you have every right to know, so you might also ask why you didn't receive the pre-arrival letter. Good luck!

In the last web form enquiry we sent, they mentioned that they won’t answer repeat enquiries about the same application.

That’s why I wanted to understand what it might mean to get a DM before getting any Pre- arrival or a PFL letter and no further information?

It almost certainly means approval (esp since no PFL). Next step passport request. Timing between DM and PPR used to be quick, now depends on location and things like whether local VAC is open.

Lack of pre-arrival - practice seems inconsistent on this, i.e. not everyone gets and timing between pre-arrival and PPR also varies widely. No need to worry that you didn't get the pre-arrival, at least judging from experience of others here.
