Hello everyone, I have a situation and would like some input from you. I sponsored my husband in 2016 and did a upfront medical, it has expired October 2017.
It’s been 15 months since our application is in process. Currently on ECAS it says “Decision Made”.
My husband received an email February 26 to provide a self stamped address envelope to the VO for the return of our relationship pictures. He immediately did so and send the envelope, it was returned with pictures, letters, cards, boarding passes, Divorce decree but no letter to say what is the decision made.
We contacted the MP for an update on the application regarding the DM, but they reply with the following:-
We are pleased to provide you with the following details for your constituent about the status of an application to sponsor a spouse living outside Canada:
* A correspondence was sent to the applicant on February 26, 2018 to inform them of the decision. They should receive it shortly.
* If the application is approved:
o the applicant will need to send their passport to the Canadian visa office, and
o the officer will affix a visa (if applicable) in the applicant's passport and will issue the confirmation of permanent residence document which the applicant will present at the port of entry in order to be granted the status of permanent resident of Canada.
* If the application is refused:
o the officer will send the applicant a refusal letter,
o a copy of the refusal letter will also be sent to the sponsor including:
o a letter explaining appeal rights,
o a Notice of Appeal, and
o instructions to obtain a refund of the Right of Permanent Residence Fee, if it was already paid.
We hope this information is helpful. If you require more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
Has anyone had this situation? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Ama
