Pre-Assessed..
hi Guys

anyone here who got married just recently or planning to get married?

how long will it take for the processing for the inland? is it really 19 months? can i apply for a work permit while waiting for the approval?

my bf is a canadian citizen and i am here for a work permit but the permit will expire by December this year..

It takes 12-18 months for the WHOLE proces to be finished, yes. Some cases, it can go over that though and sometimes it is shorter.
Yes, you can apply for a work permit but you will not be issued it until you have passed First Stage Approval aka AIP.
You won't know whether you passed with AIP until 9-10 months after they received your application at Vegreville.

What country are you from? It might be more wise to apply from outland if you have a straightforward application and if the processing times are faster for your home country. Just because you are in Canada at the time does not mean you have to apply inland. You can also keep your status valid and stay in Canada during the whole duration of application (unless they need an interview) when you apply Outland. Something you should consider.

It usually takes 9-10 months to get first stage approval for inland. If you send your work permit application with the sponsorship package, you will get your open work permit right away at first stage approval. After first stage approval, it is an average of another 9 months to get PR.

You do however have the choice of applying outland even though you are in Canada right now. Outland is often faster. You can see processing times for both here:

thanks for the info guys...

i dont really know.. if we are going to apply outland, we both dont want to be separated from each other if will have to go back to the philippines...

if we apply inland... it will gonna take a while before i can receive an open work permit... :(

So you do have a valid work permit right? You can apply inland before your current work permit expires. You will be under "implied status" until you get first stage approval. Implied status means you can continue working under the same terms of your existing work permit. Just make sure that when you submit your sponsorship application you also attach the application for the open work permit.

So I was reading your previous posts and it seems yes you do have a valid work permit but currently unemployed, your employer terminated the contract. Better call CIC and ask them about your situation. Implied status is specific about working under the same conditions of your current work permit which means, same employer, same job responsibilities. So if you are unemployed right now, I'm guessing you won't qualify for this?
