After going through the paperwork I feel a bit lost with respect to IMM0008. Am I suppose to mention my parents on it or it just for declaring your children (which we dont have). I am confused because at some point I read that not mentioning a dependant will cause a life ban for that person.

No, parents are not your dependent. You can only add your child(s) as dependent if you have any.
