Hello there, I am a Canadian Citizen that married my Australian husband in Canada in February 2012. I had visited him in Australia 2011 over Christmas and he came for an extended visit with me in Canada in January. We married in February. His Visitor Visa was extended to July of 2013. I completed sponsorship application of him to Canada and all documents were sent to Vegreville which they received on March 12, 2012. That included all payments, medical and police certificate, as well as application for work permit for processing once AIP approval given. I am wondering if anyone has received their AIP approval within 60-90 days on an inland application in 2011 or 2012. Thank you.

The short answer is no. AIP doesn't take 60-90 days. It takes 11 months. I think you may be confusing first stage of the OUTLAND process with first tage of the INLAND process. The first stage of the outland process takes around 60-90 days. With inland (how you applied) - you're looking at 11 months for AIP approval (right now they are working on applications received October 7, 2011).

See the "person to be sponsored lives in Canada" table on the page below for processing times:

Just to add, you may want to join the discussions in the thread below. Everyone on this thread submitted an inland spousal sponsorship application in 2012:

Thank you for the information. I am aware of the 11 month wait for first stage approval which is stated on the cic site. I am only wondering because we received the extension for the visitor visa within 2 weeks and the letter about processing the application farily quickly from the time it was sent in. Since that time we have received no letters regarding file transfers or requesting any missing or incomplete documents. I did read somewhere on the site that applications will be processed faster if all documents are completed properly, medical and police checks complete, and fees are paid in full. Thank you for the forum info on inland applications. Much appreciated.

Processing can happen faster than the stated processing time for stage 2 of the inland process. Unfortunately for stage 1 - you're looking at a full 11 month wait assuming there are no issues with your application. If there are issues with your application - it's longer than 11 months.
