So I met this guy on a matrimony site couple of months ago. He is currently residing in Dubai. We started talking and getting to know each other. He told me he previously lived and worked in Canada. I didn't know that till we started talking. We like each other and wants to get married soon. Now the problem is he over stayed in Canada and worked here for a few years illegally for a big company. He has completed his engineering in Canada. He left the country last year, he wasn't deported he left with his own free will. We are planning to get married next year, if we get married and I want to sponsor him, will it be an issue since he over stayed? We genuinely like each other. So we declare to CIC that he over stayed will that cause any issues? Some help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

That's major red flags and they will scrutinized your and his application plus you may gave interviewsome of your realtionship plus they see ithe as a marriage of conivence

Discovering someone online is not a problem, since CIC knows that many people meet this way.

I gather that you have not yet met him in person, correct? If that is correct, how many times do you expect to see each other, before getting married (please don't say one)? Without any dating history, or even a courtship of some sort, you will likely face a lot of extra scrutiny, but...love always wins, right?

His previous overstay is not the problem...his working illegally while overstaying could in fact be a problem. Unfortunately, when the day comes to submit the sponsorship application, you'll need to be completely honest (as you already know) and then...hope for the best.

Good luck!

Are not cic and ircc will sniff around plus they share data with cbsa

Good luck!

This guy has redflags all over him, not just for sponsoring, but for marriage.

Doesnt that concern you one bit that he's been to Canada, worked illegally and overstayed there? You dont think he's just marrying you to come here?

With ircc they will have a field day with their applica6if I was her I would cut off or hold on the wedding date

I was really trying hard to refrain from judging the OP, but I can't say that I disagree what what you're both saying. I was really only answering the question about the overstay and blatant disregard for the laws of Canada. ;)

You should visit each other several times in person before you get married. If he needs a visitor visa to enter Canada - you should assume that you'll need to visit him rather than him coming here.

She said that he overstayed in canada plus worked in canada for a few years illegally so basically he is blacklisted on cbsa data base

I have visited him twice. Met with his family and his family met mine.

With cic in theit eyes they may see it has a MOC plus they can interview and scrutinized your application

He has been completely honest with me, I know for sure he is not marrying me for the sole purpose of coming to canada

It's going to be trying in your application but I wish you the best
