Good day everyone. Immigration are taking a while to get back to me and I would like to get this moving. I'd like to be able to work from the get go but I'm unsure which work permit paperwork I need to complete to do this right.
Keen not to get this thrown back at me for a re-write.

Paid for so far:
Sponsorship application (per application) x1
Principal applicant x1
Right of Permanent Residence Fee x1

Any help greatly appreciated.

Have you already applied for PR? Did you apply inland or outland?

Thank you.
Sorry, should have said. Application is waiting to all go in together. All PR/Family Class paperwork done now (wasn't easy), just want to put the 'right' work application in to it to be able to provide for my family as soon as I get there.
Outland.
Thank you

There is no work permit available for outland applicants.

:o
Hoping its an IMM5710 (with the caveat that it gets there at the same time as my other stuff)

I'll go stir crazy waiting 'til I get there to then start the process...

See MilesAway reply above.

You don't qualify for a work permit if you apply outland.

If you want to be able to work during an outland application, then you would need to secure a closed work permit. To do that, you first need to secure a full time job offer from an employer in Canada and that employer has to obtain an approved LMIA.

Thank you all so much for sharing your experience. Exactly why this is such a good space.

I 'thought' that I could apply from Outland, go to Canada with my family (other half is a Canadian, so is Son through Mom) and then start looking for work whilst the process was going through for my PR.

Its so hard to actually speak to anyone that could have told me this.

If it is the way, its head scratching time for me.

Yes - you can certainly apply outland and then look for work in Canada. Assuming you're from the UK - outland is absolutely the way to apply. Inland simply takes far too long.

However as previously explained, open work permits aren't granted as part of the outland process. So you if you want to be able to work before you become a PR, you will need to get a full time job offer and approved LMIA - and then apply for a closed work permit.

You're all being so helpful thank you. My ignorance of the process is telling!

If I put my paperwork in now as a Brit. What type of visa would I need to apply for then to see me through the PR process? I have only ever visited and never lived there you see.

TIA

You can go as a visitor again. I believe you will need to apply for an ETA now though, although someone said that the deadline for that has been extended.

I was at the High Comm' Consular area in London last week. Been extended 'til Fall. (Not given everyone enough notice the lady said).
