Hello,

I have a question regarding sponsoring your spouse before or after your PR application gets approved. I have applied under the Canadian Experiential Class in October 2014 and am waiting to get my approval sometime this year. However, earlier this year I got engaged and now I am planning for my wedding so I would like to find out what is the process if I were to get married before my application was approved and then add my wife as an applicant. How would that impact my application and how long would it take to process both our application. On the other side, if I wait for my application to get approved and then get married I will have to sponsor her which as per my understanding can take anywhere from 12-18 months. I would like someone's help in determining which is the better approach to go about this?

Thank you,

Wow, good that you asked. I have see so many cases that. Get the spouse ban to come to Canada. Because they don't ask what to do.
To begin you need to inform immediately to immigration that you plan to marry her. In that way you protect her about becoming inadmissible because you did not inform about your relation, If you marry before it may delay your application. But you need to inform of any important change in your situation. Marriage is important. Some cases marry after getting the visa, then when in Canada apply for the spouse but she is denied because no information about her in the husband file.

That's not true at all. Until you ARE married, there's nothing to tell CIC. Those people who have their spouses denied actually land for PR WHILE they are already married, and say that they are single. If processing out of Manila however, I agree that you should wait until after you are approved and landed. But you must know not to marry before that happens.
