Hi. I am sponsoring my wife to come to Canada. Do I need to provide my bank account statement? I am aware that I have to provide source of income already.

Follow Document Checklist IMM 5533 (Page 5 of 10)

There's no income requirement for sponsoring spouse.

As a Sponsor, for Proof of Employment or Source of Income, you need to provide:
- Notice of Assessment OR Option C issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for the most recent taxation year. (Mandatory)
- Letter of Employment from current employer (Optional)
- Paystubs (Optional)

If you can't provide above mentioned proof, you need to write reasons in letter of explanation.

- You can also provide bank statements if salary/income is coming into your bank statement.
- If you also want to show you are financially supporting your spouse, you can provide bank statements to prove it.
- You can also show Joint Bank Account Statement to show you and your spouse have shared expenses.

Your file will not be rejected if you provide Letter of Explanation. Your file will also not be rejected if Sponsor is residing overseas or is currently residing in Quebec.

NOTE for Non-Quebec Residents / Sponsor Residing Overseas : File will get rejected if Notice of Assessment or Option C statement was not provided without an explanation.
