Spousal Sponsorship: AOR + Cover Letter + Other Questions

Hello!

I just joined the forums and this is my first post, I look forward to help!

I have a few questions to ask:

1) I mailed my application package to Mississauga on Oct. 30th, 2017. I've been checking every day and haven't received a single letter or email yet (AOR) from CIC. It's been 51 days and counting... Is it normal to take this long?

2) Since I haven't received any news yet, I'm starting to worry that my application got lost in the mail since I mailed it by Canada Post Regular Mail in a 10x13 envelope. I feel like I should have sent it by Purolator, FedEx or UPS with shipping confirmation... Should I worry?

3) I didn't write a cover letter... will that affect my application even though it isn't mandatory or necessary to write one?

and

4) Does anyone know if the CIC offices are closed during the holidays and for how long?

No it won't affect it. People from the beginning of October are still waiting. Don't worry just wait. It can take over 2 months now.

Btw. I mailed mine on Oct. 30th they received it on Nov 1st.
