Good morning,
My wife applied for the PGWP and we are currently on maintained status. In the next few days, I will likely receive my Canadian citizenship. My plan is to sponsor both my wife and my child.
Do you recommend that she applies for an Open Work Permit right away, or is it possible to apply for it later during the sponsorship process?
Thanks!

So they were part of your original PR application as non accompanying? You can sponsor them anytime. You didn't need citizenship.

Thanks for your reply.
I don’t have PR, I’m currently on an OWP, but I have the option to apply for citizenship directly and I’m waiting for that.

What I wanted to ask is: if I go ahead with the sponsorship (my wife already applied for the PGWP), can I apply for the OWP later on? The idea is to gain time in case the process ends up taking longer than 3 years.

Cheers.
