Hello,

I am looking for some help with respect to my application to sponsor my wife and her daughter to come to Canada as permanent residents.

I have recently sent my paperwork to Mississauga, Ontario and found out that my wife is in fact three months pregnant with my child. What do I do now? If the baby is born in Colombia, that will pose many problems later and an extended wait period apart from my spouse.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

1. Did you wife have the medical prior to you submitting that sponsorship with her application? I hope so, as most DMPs will not x-ray pregnant women.
2. The processing time in Bogota is 6-13 months for 80% of applications so it quite likely that the child will born prior to the visa being issued. If you are not a Canadian, then the application will be delayed while the child is added to the application, your wife's application is amended to show the child, and the child obtains a passport and is medically examined.
3. If the process drags out, your wife and child will probably require another medical.
4. I'm sorry, but it looks like it will be quite a while before you are re-united with your family.
