Hi,

I came to Canada in 2015 as a student, then met my ex- husband in the school I attended.
In December 2016, we got engaged and moved in together and later got married in the summer of 2018.
At this time, I was still a student and he already had a PR application in process which he submitted in January of 2018, so he added me " ADD ON" to his application in November 2018 after our wedding.

Both our PR came out in January 2020 just before the pandemic. During the pandemic we had marital crisis which ended in separation and officially divorced in June 2022. We both have moved on, as he is currently married to someone else.

My current partner just proposed, and I will like to know if I can sponsor him to Canada, he lives in Kenya, I have travelled a number of times to visit him, and we're also expecting a baby together. I just got my Canadian citizenship in June 2023.

I will like to know my chances if I should apply to sponsor him now or the if the 5yrs waiting period applies to me.

Thank you.

You were not sponsored by your ex. So you do not have a 5 years waiting period to sponsor your new spouse once you get married.

As mentioned, you could start the sponsorship today, if you were married.

Congrats on the blessing inside!
