Hey,
I need some advice please.

I'm a British Citizen who's wife is a Canadian Citizen. We have lived apart for a number of years due to my work commitments.

I would like to return to Ontario, but my PR card expired a year ago.

Can my wife sponsor me , even though we have lived apart for 6 years?

Any advice on what would be the best way for me to return and live in Canada?

Thanks

Garth

Hey Garth,

As long as you are still married, and still together with your wife, even in a distance relationship, then you can be sponsored by your wife.
Best way is probably to do the outland application through London.
You fill out all the documents, prepare the proofs required, send it to your wife. She completes her forms, and sends it to Mississauga. Then once first stage is done, it goes to London.
Read the first thread by Leon (only the first page) it will give you a more detailed breakdown of the steps.

If you are living apart but can prove that you are still a couple (regular visits, regular communications, combined assets etc), then she can sponsor you.
Good luck,

Also - as you are from a visa-exempt country, you can stay in Canada on a tourist visa and still apply outland (it's faster than inland for most cases going through London), or you can still be traveling and working outside of Canada until your PR comes through.
Your choice.
