One of My friend holds a PR, Getting married this Month, He would like to sponsor the PR to his wife which takes around 5-6 months... While he is planning to apply for Tourist Visa for his wife to travel initially till her PR is in place. Can you please suggest viable options.

The target processing time for spousal sponsorship is 12 months, not 5-6. They can apply for a visitor visa but these have a high rate of rejection in these circumstances. Applying for one will not harm the application. As a PR your friend must be inside Canada to sponsor.
