Hello all:
I am sure a thread has been created for this subject, but I am new here, so forward me to the right direction if needed.
So, where to start. I am a Canadian citizen and my wife is an American citizen (who happens to be an immigration lawyer in California). We sent in an inland spousal visa application with an open work permit application. We sent it in on July.15th/2017 and it was received July.24th/2017. The reason that it was returned was that they stated we did not provide the required and/or source of support documents for Employment/Source of Support.
When filling out the application, on section 5, we opted to choose the second option (If you are not Working in Canada, provide other documentation showing that you can support the person). Reason for this is, is because I am not currently employed. Having said that, after we sent in the application, I opened up my own business. So, I could not provide an income for them at the time, but, I did provide them with a letter like they asked, to show them I will provide for my wife.
Now, having said this. Should I now 1. print off my bank account statement showing how much money I have in there? 2. Check off option 1 in section 5 and provide them with a letter on behalf of my company(myself) and provide my 2016 tax assessment (which I did not receive until recently)?
Also, what does this do to the OWP application? She has since gone back to California a couple times and returned with no hassle. She comes back in October for good, so do we resubmit a new OWP with the new point of entry date? This really messes with our plans we had, as I am assuming we won't get back the 3 months we just wasted.
I thought no requirement was needed on the financial aspect side of things other than a letter if I was not currently employed?
Thanks!
