Spousal Application with Sponsor and Applicant in Australia

Hey All!

Wow, what a wonderful community this is!

We are a day or 2 away from applying from Australia and we have to send our application to Sydney, Nova Scotia as we are both outside of Canada. Sponsor is Canadian, and Principal applicant is Me (British) but we live in Australia right now. Complicated i know!

Is anyone applying from Australia and has anything to share on waiting for AOR1 etc??

Hi! We’ve applied from Australia but our application has been kept in Mississauga for processing. We received our AOR1 fairly quickly it seemed (timeline in signature). We used Australia Post but paid for express or priority mail with tracking and it got there in about a week. Best of luck with submitting!

What address did you send to originally? The Sydney, Nova Scotia address?

What is the standard process for the medical? Is it just a standard Aussie medical? Drug test, lung function etc?

No we sent ours back in February, so it was the old address. The outland address only changed to Nova Scotia this month.
Yea it's a simple exam but there's only a few select places that CIC allows you to do the medical with, in Australia they are all BUPA clinics I believe. Cost us $730 and we had to wait about 1-2 weeks to get an appointment that worked with my partner's work schedule.

I think the exam is like $650 but my partner had to pay more for additional blood tests because he has tattoos.
