Hello, my boyfriend is coming to Canada next month to visit. We want to get married so i can sponsor him. I am not sure I understand the whole procedure, everything is so confusing.
We want to get a marriage license as fast as possible and then from what I understood it takes about 3 months to get the marriage certificate. He will stay here meanwhile. Then we want to apply for sponsorship, probably outland, since the average waiting period is of 6 months (in Bucharest). In this case he will be staying here and he would have to go back for a possible interview. If they do request an interview how long will it take to get a visa afterwards? Since he won't be able to re-enter the country (Canada) I wonder how long we will have to be apart. Can I assume that in about 1 year the whole procedure will be over if everything goes to plan? Will they extend his visa on the basis that we are married and have applied for sponsorship so he can stay here until they request an interview? Since I am a student and have received the regular student loan will that be an obstacle? I know that they supposedly don't care how much money you make, if I prove that my parents have sufficient income and we will be staying with them until he can legally find a job will that be enough?
I am extremely confused and I don’t know what to do, but we have been apart for two and a half years (with short visits) and I really need find a way for us to be together soon.
I will be thankful for any suggestions.
