Hi All,

My wife is a PR in Canada and I am in India. We are applying for sponsorship through Outland.

I am in a reputed MNC company in India. I have tried to come to Canada by work permit but due to the ongoing labour strike, my company has put my travel on hold. However, I have been getting offers to travel to US. Hence, I have the following questions for which I need clarifications.

Once we submit the documents to CIC, if I get a chance to travel to US, can I send my passport to CIC from US after Sponsorship approval?

Also should I inform CIC that I am in US (when I am there)?

Will it hamper/affect my processing in any way?

Regards

No - you won't be able to send your passport by mail or courier from the US to India. It is illegal to send passports by courier or mail in India.

If you are outside of India when you receive your passport request, then you will either have to travel back to India yourself to deliver your passport - or you will have to send your passport with a trusted friend/family member who is traveling from the country you are in back to India and who can deliver your passport.

Can't I send it to CIC Canada directly or should it have to go through Indian Visa Office?

Also, when I am in US, if I change my address and show that I am working in US - can I send it from US VISA office?

You have to send the passport to the visa office in India (ND) since this will be the office handling your case.

CIC typically does not change the visa office if you change your address. So if you change your address to a US address, it's extremely likely that your visa office will still be ND and this is where you will have to submit your passport.
