Hello,
I'm so sick of those people at Immigration Canada to make this whole simple process so complicated.
At least the guides should be made easy to read! :)

Anyways, my question is:

1) I know you don't need a MINIMUM income to sponsor your spouse, and one dependent children but how much income do you need to prove to sponsor them? Like if I have no income and (I'm a realtor) I haven't sold any houses lately (in the 12months).
2) So I guess I'm asking again if the Immigration Canada can refuse my case "sponsorship" because I do not have "Financial Ability" to sponsor my spouse, and one of her dependent child.
3) Does Old Age Security count as a government assist?

Thank You! and good luck to you all~ ^^

Nope still has no effect you can still sponsor and they cant refuse based on no income.People have sponsored while being unemployed. So dont stress over that go ahead apply you will be fine.

No, Old Age Security is not government assistance. Government assistance is what is coloquially called "welfare" (assistance of last resort).

I'm so sorry but I've been going through the guide word to word at the following is said:
Part 1: guide pg 8
Who can sponsor?
- you have an income that is at least equal to the minimum necessary income, the amount of which is published yearly by the Canadian government.

and also:
pg. 14
Why might the application for PR of the person I want to sponsor be refused?
- you may not meet the financial requirements where theses are applicable;

Thank you.

For a spousal sponsorship the financial requirements are not applicable. I can't remember about the child.

Does anyone know if the financial requirements are applicable if your sponsoring your dependent child too?

Thank you for your respond,
but I'm so curious why they would ask for your option C if they can't refuse your application due to poor financial ability.

You can't sponsor if you are on welfare, so your income is of some interest to them.
Spousal sponsors are exempt from the minimum income requirements, but the visa officers still want to see your income and what job you have, if any. This is because you are signing a document swearing you will support your spouse for three years. If the visa officer thinks you will not support your spouse, and your spouse will not try to support him/herself, they can and will refuse the visa. Of course, this scenario is not very likely - at least at the appllication stage.

The Option C will also show if you have undischarged bankruptcies. You cannot sponsor if you do.

So are you saying my application be denied if I don't have enough or ANY income?

NO......please read the posts, your application will NOT be denied as long as you are NOT claiming welfare.

Option C print out is required as stated above to prove you are not bankrupt and not on welfare benefits.

As long as the Option C does not state this, then your earnings can be zero.

State benefits, like old age, do NOT count as welfare benefits.

I hope you have understood it now

No.
If you have no or little income when you apply, you can still be accepted as a sponsor for your spouse.
But ... The main question the visa officer has is whether or not your relationship is genuine. One proof of a genuine relationship, according to CIC guidelines, is you and your spouse's plans for your future together in Canada. This includes how you will support yourselves, where you will live, your plans for employment and/or education, etc. The visa officer wants to see evidence that you have discussed your future together, that you have plans for your future together. If you have no plans, and it seems as if you two have not discussed your future together, then the visa officer will wonder if the relationship is genuine. In a genuine relationship, people will have discussed their plans. If the visa officer doubts the relationship is genuine, he/she will not issue a visa.

So it is OK not to have an income or a job when you apply, but you had better show evidence you and your partner have plans for your life together in Canada, plans that include a job and some way to get an income. If you already have a job and an income, as evidenced by your Option C printout, then the visa officer will be reassured and will require less evidence of future plans.

I've been bankrupted and got discharged this may, would it still show up on my Option C?
