Does my husband need his own place to stay [as in his name] to sponsor me?

Does he need insurance too?

Right now we are both leaving with his parents [me being American and him born Canadian.] Would the fact that he still leaves with his parents effect his ability to sponsor me?

The reason being that he lives with his parents would be because he is taking care of them [their elderly.] However the apartment is in his parents name.

He does not need own his place and insurance in order to sponsor you as long as he is not in welfare.

i know it's been answered already, but no, he doesn't! i was living with my parents at the time when i sponsored my husband and i got approved. no insurance necessary either. as long as you meet the minimum requirements. i think it's $25K/yearly.

There is no fixed number. The absolute *minimum* requirement is to not be on social assistance. I think you also can't be bankrupt, but I'm not sure about that. A sponsor needs to show they can or has a plan in place to support the sponsored partner.
