I am starting the process to sponsor my wife to Canada. I work in the oil industry and often live in worker camps in northern Alberta. I rent a room in a colleagues house and have been for over one year. I recently learned that my colleague and his wife both have criminal records. On the sponsorship questionnaire it asks if I live with someone. So I will naturally have to say yes. They want the names of the people I rent from. It's in a very nice upperclass neighbourhood. I am in the midst of moving to a new place at the end of next month. Will living with them affect my eligibility as a sponsor? I have never had a criminal record ir anything like that.

While I can't say for sure, I don't think that that should impact your application. Only if you or your wife had a criminal record.

First i dont think living as a tenant or paying-guest comes/falls in the definition of living together or in terms of living with someone. a person living in a hostel, shared accommodation, hotel etc wont be listing all the other occupants as his living together in cic forms.

"On the sponsorship questionnaire it asks if I live with someone. So I will naturally have to say yes. "

So logically you dont live with anyone ( in terms of relationship)- they are your landlord not your relatives and you have rented their place and you pay for your living. living with them will not effect your eligibility as a sponsor. if you want to mention them you can just mention you are living in shared accommodation. when you move you can change your address.
