Sponsorship question .. please help

Hi,

I'm getting sponsored along with my child by my husband.
I'm currently in Canada on a student visa, however, its very tough to study and take care of a baby and I want to stop studying (or at least take a break).
We sent our file a few weeks ago and waiting for AOR. Do I have to maintain my study visa and extend it to stay in Canada during the in Canada sponsor process? Shall I apply for tourist visa or what shall I do to stay here with my husband without needing to leave until the sponsorship concludes which is close to 2 years now :( ?

Did you apply inland or outland?

And if inland, did you submit OWP along with PR app?

Thanks for the reply.

I applied inland and I did not submit OWP because I can't work now as I need to take care of my child for at least 2 years before I can go back to work.
 
If you didn't submit OWP application, then you do NOT have any implied status.

You must maintain valid status if you want to be "legal" staying in Canada. So if you will no longer have valid student visa status, then you must apply to change that to visitor status.

It's probably better for you to just submit an OWP application now. Even if you don't work, the OWP will give you status in Canada.

Another question, if I may ask: Can I change my currently valid student visa to New temporary resident visa? So stay legally here during the sponsorship process?

I suggest you simply submit an OWP now. It will give you status in Canada for duration of inland process.

That's great! thanks a million Rob.
One last question, I do not see any information about dependent/children in this application, will they give visitor visa for my child (1 and a half years old)?
