sponsorship form questions

In the sponsorship evaluation, question #3 (net personal income). Do they mean what i take home as pay ( so i have to add up all my pay deposited to my bank account) OR as per an income tax return (net income) ?
In the sponsorship questionnaire, question #17 (previous spouse or common-law). They ask for address and all. Are they actually gonna talk to them or visit them ?

The net income can be as on your income tax return.

They do want the name and address of ex-spouses and partners. I have never heard of a visa officer actually contacting this person.
