Hi - My spouse and I recently moved to Canada on PR. My daughter was born in the US after we received the PR and therefore she does not have a PR in Canada. She is here on a visitor visa which is about to expire. I have already applied for her visa extension 2 months ago. But the processing time for extension is 6 months and I have not heard anything from ircc. I am in the process of applying for her PR card.

Question is will there be any issues if I submit her PR application after the visit visa expires? Asking this because the PR application asks us to fill out the current visa start and end date.

Thanks!

Since technically one can apply to sponsor a spouse or minor dependent that is out of status, won't be an issue. BUT: would suggest applying ASAP with copy of information about the application to extend.

Note, if the online forms require dates, no idea how to deal with that.

Thank you! Good point. I will add her visa extension application to the PR application. Unfortunately her visa expires next week and I don't think I can submit the application before that. But I did read online that one can stay in the country with expired visa with application for visa extension until a decision has been made. so I hope this is true and doesn't impact the PR. My daughter is only 2 years old so I am hoping it's ok!

Another follow up question. Since I have applied for her extension, I have her UCI number. In the PR application, it's asking me if I have a UCI for her. I am not sure if that's the same? Any idea? Asking because both the portals are different, one is a GCI login and other is PR application login.

Thanks.

Yes, the extension applicaton having been submitted but not processed yet is pretty common.

It will not affect the application in terms of approval etc. I suppose there is a possibility it may delay the application a bit (just while they look into the situation i.e. compared to a 'vanilla' file), but no significant repercussions to that. (And not much you can do about it now anyway)

Don't know about your portals question, but UCI is 'permanent' and you can use it to identify her. (Note, occasionally UCI numbers are mixed up or two for one individual, but relatively rare).
