Our sponsorship was just approved today for outland, and I guess now is the long waiting game.

What sort of things should we be watching for on our ECAS page online? I've heard part way through we can apply for OHIP in ontario before the PR.

Next thing you would look for is "we started processing your application on XX date"

You can't apply for ohip until after the person has landed however they need to be in Ontario for 3 months before they even get ohip coverage.

You can look out for application processing as mentioned by sammy

You can apply for your OHIP once the applicant is in Canada immediately; the applicant will present the confirmation letter but the OHIP card will only be issued after three months since there is a residency requirement.

with OHIP there is a loop:
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/important-ohip-eligibility-info-for-all-pr-applicants-residing-in-ontario-t56695.0.html;msg2518001#msg2518001

so same question here: what are stages in ECAS? from "application received" to "decision made"? what are notes in between? "in process" only, or anything else? how can I know that they are now evaluating relationship, and checking my background, etc? do they put any information to ECAS, or not likely?

that's not true. if the applicant is in cnada as a visitor, and they applied outland, they can not apply for ohip until pr is granted. visitor's can not apply for ohip. if the person applied inland, then they need to wait until a certain point in the process to be able to apply.

Oops I must clarify, what I meant was once the applicant was got the PR and has landed in Canada they can take the confirmation letter and go apply for the OHIP

Not Much. Mine said, after July 17th

1. Application received
2. Meds received

Same until 12/29 Then it said
We've received your application on 3/11
We started processing your application on 12/29
Medical results have been received

Then when it hit decision Made

All that was changed was there was this note at the end

A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.

Short and sweet. To get anything more than that you'll have to order GCMS notes. And they don't update eCAS often. It took me 4 months to get any updates on my file ( this is not normal mind you) I received my sponsor approval email on July 17th then it took another week before anything showed up on my application. Others may be different though.

Then DM (1/10)

Same as above but with this added

A decision has been made on your application. You will be notified of the decision shortly.
