My wife (Thai) tells me that she heard of Canadian-Thai families moving to Canada once sponsorship is approved, to wait for a decision on the permanent resident application. Apparently being approved as a sponsor means my wife is more likely to get the temporary resident visa? We were already refused once, 2 years ago when we tried to visit Canada for Christmas, because we couldn't prove that she'd be compelled to return to Thailand. Nothing has changed in that department.

Anybody heard of people doing this? Is there any reason to believe that we'd get the temporary resident visa this time? Note that we also have two children, one a 7-year old Thai boy from her previous relationship, and one our 4-month old daughter (who btw is the cutest baby in the universe :D).

To get the TRV she has to prove she will leave Canada. With a Canadian husband and a PR application, that is hard to do. If she left the kids behind, that would help. Bangkokcanuck was in a similar situation, and his wife's TRV was refused after they applied for her PR, even though in her case she had received a TRV twice before.
There's no harm in trying, but she is unlikely to get it.

my husband's was refused.. due do "family ties in Canada"... :(
but if I were you I would try anyways, its better to try and have the chance than to not try at all!! Good luck! :D
