Hello guys,
this forum is great and very helpful, I hope somebody is able to answer questions I have about family sponsorship.
My fiance and I are getting married soon, he is a Resident of Canada, and I am on Post Graduation work permit.
We have been together for over 3 years, and there will be no problems proving our relationship is genuine, but he owns some money to Canada Revenue Agency, he has been contacted by them, and now he has to pay them money in installments, which means in a matter of a year he will be free of this debt. He is not a bankrupt.
Will it be a problem if he sponsors me while still owns some money to Revenue Canada? I checked the document list and it says we need to attach recent notice of assessment.

I would appreciate any help or advice about this problem.
I talked to a lawyer and he told me as long as he is not bankrupt he is okay to sponsor me, BUT has anybody applied for sponsorship when owned money to CRA?

Thanks

No, being in debt to CRA is not an issue. Using Social Assistance (welfare) and checking for bankruptcy is the only real reasons they communicate with RevCan in Spousal Sponsorships. Supplying NoA and/or Option C's is usually sufficient..
