Sponsoring wife_forms signatures and postage

Hi,

I would like to sponsor my wife who I married in Algeria. I'm a Canadian citizen and live in Canada, she live in Algeria. I just started reading about all this so please be patient with me.

I see that many of the forms need both signature, for example the one filled by the sponsor (IMM 1344) and the one filled by the principal applicant (IMM 0008). It sounds to me that I need to fill in my form, send it overseas so she can sign it then send it back to me so I can post it to CIC, same thing will happend to the other forms...etc ..

The easiest way for me would be to either let her sign all empty forms over there then send them to me so I can fill them up and send them by post to CIC here in Canada ...I want of course to make sure all this is legit and that it's OK that she signs empty forms ?!

I also noticed that we need to print out and attach some bar codes on the forms, which I presume possibly could hep CIC know where and when the forms were filled in and catch any wrong doing?

Could someone guide me step by step what to do to save time? in a legit way of course!.

You're right in thinking there might be a problem with her signing blank forms. The barcodes contain the information you filled out and validated.

The way we did it was I filled out all the forms here in Canada and saved them to PDF.
I then sent her all the forms by email and she printed/signed them after which she couriered them to me, and I signed them.

Fill out the forms together, validate them (these are the bar codes that your referring to) let her print them, sign them and send them over to you. You can then sign them and send them off to CPC Mississauga with the rest of your supporting documents.

No. Barcodes are not to catch any wrong-doing, they are there to help CPC Mississauga when they come to scan and index your application. The barcodes are classic 'image and workflow' indexing pages that I am familiar with in my own line of work (large financial services company). That is why once you have finished your pack, they ask for this barcode page to be the top-most page.

Thanks everyone for the answer. I should probably first try to open and "exercise" on these form to get a better understanding. My issue is that courier could take long time and get lost over there and also she might not be well set up to be online with me at the same time and do that together.

I will probably later ask more questions once I read through the forms ..

But, I did notice that I did not get an email notification about your replies ! do you know where to change the settings please? I'd hate to lose a reply !

Don't get too hung up on 'being on-line to do them together'.

I was the sponsor and my wife the PA.

Basically, I completed ALL of the forms, including hers and her parts of the joint forms by the simple expedient of asking her questions then typing them in for her (not that she couldn't do it, it was just a lot easier for one person to figure out what was needed)! I then validated the forms (that needed it) then we both signed them as and where appropriate.

You could easily do the same at your end, fully complete them for both of you, then courier the forms to her for her to sign and return to you, you then sign and package up and off to Mississauga.

Best to actually have a look at the forms and figure it out from there.

How about the application submission language:

I do speak both French and English but she's more French and personally I would like to fill the forms in English as probably I'll be looking after most the application and paperwork.

In Algeria, French would be much easier if she has to deal with this.

1- Would it affect the processing speed if I use one language than the other?

2- For the supporting documents, is that ok if I mix French and English or I have to translate to a single language? for example, I can get my Algerian marriage in French while my previous Canadian divorce certificate is in English.
