For sponsoring family one cannot be receiving financial assistance such as EI to qualify as a sponsor.
This seems to be for before and during sponsor evaluation.

What happens if someone looses their job after they get approved as sponsor while the PR application is under review.
Can sponsor loose qualified/approved status even when the PR process is under way?

EI is not public assistance, it is an insurance scheme. You pay in when you work, and you collect when you are unemployed.

Understood.
But I thought that sponsors receiving financial aid including unemployment insurance were automatically disqualified.
Is this correct?

EI is not considered social assistance therefore it does not disqualify one as a sponsor.
