Hello,

My parents will be renouncing their PR status because they do not live in Canada and they have not met the residency requirement. They left more than 8 years ago. They did not know that they had to renounce their status when they left. Now, with the new visitor visa (eTA document), we discovered that they can't get it before they cancel their PR status in Canada.

In a couple of years, I plan to sponsor them. Will the fact that they had PR and then renounce it may result in them not getting a PR status again? Did anyone of you had a similar situation?

Thanks in advance!

The fact they had PR before will not prevent them from getting PR again. They will be treated just like any other application.
