My dad is looking to sponsor his nephew, who is less than 18 years old and unfortunately was just orphaned a few weeks ago.
I have been reviewing the CIC website and confirmed that he is eligible to sponsor his nephew and meets the required minimum income. However, the CIC website is a bit unclear in terms of what supporting documents are needed in this case. Below is an initial list of supporting docs that I have come up with, please let me know if I am missing anything:
1. Nephew's (Principal Applicant's) birth certificate
2. Death certificates of both his (Applicant's) parents
3. Sponsor's and nephew's mother's birth certificates (to prove that applican't deceased mother is my dad's sister)?
Also, on CIC website, it states that if principle applicant is less than 18 years old, his legal guardian has to sign the forms. In our case, there is no legal guardian per se i.e. no legal document that identifies the legal guardian. Is such document necessary or can another relative simply ASSUME guardianship for the moment?
I'd highly appreciate your suggestions and advice.
