Hi!

I am a PR of Canada and will be moving to Montreal (Quebec) soon. I am wondering what will be the best way for me to sponsor my sister and her family (husband and son) to Montreal. I have a good job and I am willing to financially support them until they are able to support themselves. First off, am I able to sponsor them?? under what stream or category?

In case that I cannot, what would be the best route for them to be able to come to Montreal? How can I best help them? Both my sister and brother in law are Bachelor degree holder and have extensive work experience. I will greatly appreciate any helpful information that you can provide. Many thanks in advance!

Cheers!

It's unlikely you can sponsor your sister and her family.

Do you have a spouse or common law partner? Do you have children? Are either of your parents still alive? If the answer to any of these questions is yes - then you cannot sponsor your sister.

If you cannot sponsor your sister and her family, then they will need to do some research to determine if they qualify to immigrate independently (having a bachelor degree and extensive work experience doesn't mean someone necessarily qualfies to apply). I would recommend they take the assessment test here:

And also read up on the various immigration programs here:

Re: Sponsoring my second cousin in Quebec

Hello I have family in Italy who want to come to Quebec. My second cousin and her husband to be precise. Can I sponsor them? Or can my mom, being the aunt to my second cousin sponsor them? thank you.

1. No and No. As both you and your mother have relatives in Canada.
